Principle of Ultrasonic Machining
Ultrasonic machining involves using a tool to cut the workpiece. The material removal is enhanced by the tool's axial high-frequency vibration combined with tool rotation and other movements.
Advantages of Ultrasonic Machining
Reduced cutting resistance, improved machining efficiency, enhanced surface roughness, non-adherence of debris to the tool due to vibration (extending tool life), and low residual machining stress.
Applications of Ultrasonic Machining
Machining of tempered glass (touch panels), semiconductors, wafers, and other hard-brittle materials (such as quartz, silicon carbide, aluminum oxide, etc.)
